Just.worn: The Calm Before the Storm

This look for me equals the ultimate in laid back chic and comfort. Knowing I would be on my feet a lot during training I chose my Springcourts to literally give me that spring in my step. Teaming my Replay denim cut offs with a h&m black tee. Rocking my vintage gold aviators with my beautifully studded and completely bottomless bag. All I can say in this look is bring on the training!

I made my final trip up to Somerset House before Fashion Week goes live and it all kicks off. A last day of training to go over the final details. It was amazing to see how the courtyard had be transformed into the venue that hosts one of the worlds biggest fashion events. Teams of people had been working tirelessly behind the scenes preparing the exhibition spaces, the VIP lounges, the BFC catwalk tent, preparing everything down to the very last detail.

Fully briefed and issued with my uniform and cheeky goody bag, I only hope I can survive all the early mornings! (Although, just the mere thought of seeing all the best designers and the who's who of fashion provides more than enough incentive to brave my alarm clock for the next 6 days)!

P.s All will be revealed as to what I will be wearing for uniform soon enough.

Just.bought: New Suede Shoes

Dr Martens Classic Brogue

I have been intrigued by the growing trend of creepers and platform shoes as chunky soles were steadily creeping up inch by inch on the runway. It was not long before the high street followed suit and fully embraced the trend. Brands such as Underground (the original british punks) have collaborated with popular high street stores Topshop and Urban Outfitters creating new and exclusive designs.

Initially I thought these bold designs were a little to punk for me and thought about settling for one of the slightly more tailored wearable styles offered by Office . However being the dreaded half size, try as I might I couldn't find a pair in either style to fit! I had just about given up and started my search for another footwear trend when... I glanced upon this pair of Dr Martens. I knew I had to own them, I just hoped this would finally be my Cinderella pair. I tentatively asked the shop assistant for my size, my eyes followed her to the stockroom, disappear and then return, clutching THE shoes. I slowly laced each one up, they were perfect! I could not have been happier if Prince Charming had laced them up himself. I had found my 'glass slippers'.

Just.worn: My Lucky Day

Unfortunately I cannot claim full responsibility for the sun appearing after my interview or for the fact I correctly predicted the weather by gambling on shorts. I guess luck was on my side, as not only did I emerge from my interview into the beautiful sunshine, with a job. Only to be honest, this was only revealed after a nail biting bank holiday weekend of constant and religious email checking.

Once again I am back at Somerset House, this time for an afternoon of training. So today I kept my look relaxed. Teaming my white converse with rolled up sleeves on my oversized shirt tucked into a leather look skirt from Next. This time tucking my skull studded bag under my arm to complete the look.

I am so excited and cannot wait to start work at this seasons London Fashion Week, and what a week it will be!

Just.worn: Interview for a work placement with the British Fashion Council @ LFW

I definitely found myself with a need to look smart for this interview, so a shirt and blazer seemed the obvious choice. I wanted to avoid the cliché that often becomes this combination, by creating a more feminine take on the masculine girl/boy trend, as seen at Dolce & Gabbana. Taking inspiration from 1950s teddy boys, I teamed a simple men's Burberry shirt buttoned all the way up with my vintage tailored blazer. Adding detail with a silk handkerchief tucked into my breast pocket and an old pearl necklace under my shirt collar. It was a rather miserable morning, but I hoped the sun might make an appearance later so I took a gamble and wore my navy silk shorts from H&M. However, being a typically realistic Brit I thought my hope might have been a little misplaced. So I donned my woolly urban outfitters thigh high socks and scrunched them down (ready to be pulled up just in case I found myself needing a bit of extra warmth)! As this was clearly a time to adhere to certain footwear etiquette, I decided on my black platform suede boots. Finally I tucked my studded leather Jones Bootmaker bag under my arm to complete the look.

After arriving in London I hopped on the underground for a few stops down to the magnificent neo-classical Somerset House situated just off the River Thames. The house has played host to London Fashion Week since 2009. I briefly had enough time to admire the 50 or so fountains dancing in the courtyard before my interview and can't wait for the opportunity to explore the rest of the house!

A small patch of blue sky above Somerset House.

I emerged from my surprisingly short group interview to see the sun finally shining. Now all I can do is await the verdict, so wish me luck, fingers crossed I get the job!

Just.ate: Coco's Patisserie

I just had to take a picture of this perfect strawberry tart topped with a miniature macaroon, and it tasted just as good as it looked!!!

Just.seen: The Grey Area

The great thing about Brighton is that it is somewhat a mini London, and the great thing about living in Brighton is exactly that. A cosmopolitan melting pot, never shy of independent art galleries, shops and cafes. The people are always willing to showcase their individuality. Young students indeed prove this to be very true and I am never short of the opportunity to explore an exhibition. The city is always littered with flyers and leaflets and upon my usual weekly sweep I discovered Influx. A culmination of contemporary photographic work from 2nd year Foundation Students exhibited at the Grey Area.

I' wearing my black jeans and a lace shirt I found hidden on the sale rails in H&M, lately I have gotten into wearing my shirts buttoned up with my pearl necklace tucked under the collar.
